Mom’s Touch: The Best Chicken Burger Brand in South Korea

I know what readers from the anglosphere are thinking the moment they laid eyes on the title of this article. Mom’s Touch? Is that…appropriate? My mom did touch me a lot when I was little, and so have yours. Probably.

What if I tell you that the literal translation of what the name is intending to convey is ‘The taste of Mom’s hand’? Is it better now?

Traditionally, mothers all around the world cooked food at home, and it was no different in Korea. Not all mothers are professional chefs, but what they have is love and care for their families, just like my mother. Naturally, they try to use the freshest and healthiest ingredients to cook the tastiest food. Mmm. My mom’s Kimchi Jigae is the best!

That’s how the phrase ‘the taste of a mother’s hand’ came to be. It is not weird at all! The best praise you could give someone for their cooking is saying that it reminds you of your mother’s cooking. Or, as you now know, your mom’s touch.

So, the next time someone treats you to dinner, you could say “Hey! Your food reminds me of my mom’s touch”, with a slight grin.

Smiling is good for you!

Sorry for the rather lengthy preamble. Might as well call it pre-ramble.

Back to the topic at hand.

If you do visit Korea and for some reason you want to eat a chicken burger instead of truly immersing yourself into the Korean experience by eating a bowl of kimchi every day (I’m joking, we eat Kimchi that much), at least try the Korean brand.

And you will be surprised by how good the burger is.

Mom’s Touch is the best chicken burger franchise in South Korea, and here is why

There are 2 reasons for this.

1. Tender Chicken Thigh Fillet

The first reason is that Mom’s Touch uses tender chicken thigh fillet rather than chicken breast or ground chicken patty that many other established brands use.

Their signature burger is called “Thigh Burger”, which is pronounced as “Psy Burger”, but the man who brought about the Gangnam Style syndrome has nothing to do with this. The Korean language does not have the “th” sound, and thus the pronunciation.

Basically, the chicken is crunchy, soft, and good to bite through. It’s also slightly spicy to show its Koreanness. Don’t worry, it’s not that spicy.

The buns shelter pieces of crunchy cabbage and delightful pickles and onions ready to flow into your mouth by riding Mom’s Touch’s signature creamy sauce to become best buds with your taste buds.

Just look at the picture. Behold, the most scrumptious-looking chicken burger on this planet.

2. Cheap, yet tasty (and possibly healthy, or at least it feels like it)

The second reason is that it’s cheap. The Thigh Burger costs 4,600 KRW (4 USD) and as a meal it costs 6,900 KRW (5.4 USD) which includes K-jun fries and a drink of your choice.

A Thigh Burger meal looks like this:

There is a variety of other dishes on the menu, but I’m only going to introduce Thigh Burger today, as it is the signature dish.

Check out this popular video of Josh, the well-known Korean Englishman introducing his mom to Mom’s Touch.

So ladies and gentlemen, the next time you visit Korea and you want to have a fast-food-style burger, instead of going to Mcdonald’s or Burger King, try Mom’s Touch.

Don’t be afraid to enter. You won’t get touched that way.
